Its location in the Gulf of Mexico and its mild climate lend itself to year-round outdoor sports, nature-inspired art, and plenty of places to discover. Many residents have access to 16 South Walton beaches, each with its own exclusive communities.

Located along a 26-mile strip of white sandy beaches and turquoise waters on Northwest Florida's Gulf Coast, South Walton is about 25 miles south of I-10 along Emerald Coast Parkway, with several communities right along Scenic Highway 30A. The nearest airports are Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) or Destin/Fort Walton Beach, FL (VPS).

South Walton beaches along Florida's Panhandle coast are divided into 16 communities such as Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Santa Rosa, and many more.

The sugar-white sand and turquoise water are the main attractions, but there’s never a dull moment on or off the beach. Shop at local boutiques or large outlets, or do a different kind of exploring.

Make your way to world-class meals in between relaxing with a round of golf or a spa session. Each community is filled with funky bars, like the Red Bar, where you can hang out and eat the typical beach fare and cocktails while listening to its well-known Jazz Band.

The local art scene is internationally recognized, with exhibitions and festivals such as the Underwater Museum of Art, where you can plunge into an interesting world full of sea life and sculptures, about 1 mile from Grayton Beach. It's very easy to relax and have fun making your own souvenir at the Shard Store, where you crack the glass and reshape it in your own way.

40 percent of South Walton's property is protected and unchanged, including four state parks and one state forest. Just north, Rocky Bayou State Park is not officially located in South Walton, but it contains an old-growth longleaf pine tree that introduced the timber industry to the region. In addition to a variety of hiking trails and canoe/kayak trails that get you closer to the delicate ecosystem of the region.

We're suggesting you rent a bike. Including more than 200 miles of cycle routes and numbered bike lanes on the roads, you won't have trouble finding places to go. Any restaurant, cafe, bar, or beach has enough bicycle stands.
