								Translated from the Japanese word for 'home,' the original Uchi is located in a renovated South Austin bungalow. Award-winning chef Tyson Cole, with his non-traditional style of Japanese food, has delighted Austin's diverse crowd, as well as visitors from across the country and around the world, since 2003.
It is the legendary Austin sushi restaurant opened by sushi-amo and award-winning chef Tyson Cole of James Beard. 
Selected as Best Sushi Restaurant by Miami New Times, it serves a non-traditional take on Japanese food with a menu that features upscale raw and cooked Japanese tastings, chef's graded omakase-style tapas, makimono, sushi and sashimi dishes, as well as an assortment of other Japanese delicacies.
