North Beach

With cool beaches, historic Art Deco architecture, and welcoming green spaces, North Beach is a mellow, family-friendly destination in Miami.

North Miami Beach is about a 30-minute drive north of Miami. It brings travelers closer to Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale. The North Miami Beach area is surrounded by lakes and tidal waterways that place whole communities on the waterfront property. North Miami Beach is also home to Florida International University's northern campus, which overlooks the Bay of Biscay.

With cool beaches, historic Art Deco architecture, and welcoming green spaces, North Beach is a mellow, family-friendly destination in Miami. You'll discover a luxurious spa destination adjacent to an ancient open-air bandshell with plenty of bars, restaurants, and parks in between.

North Miami is located in South Florida, Miami-Dade County, on the Atlantic coast, offering guests a wide variety of leisure, entertainment, and cultural amenities, ranging from absurdly pricey and exclusive to moderate and affordable.

The stretch of the beach here is classic Miami: large swaths of soft white sand, shimmering turquoise waves, and lined with thin, grass-covered dunes. You can walk along the palm tree-lined promenade and play volleyball in the sand courts along 73rd Street.

It's largely a residential location, and it's mostly Latin American. Spanish is the first language of most of the people you encounter. While there aren't as many hotels as you can find in South Beach, the Hilton Cabana Miami Beach is a decent bet, The Carillon is a luxurious resort with an incredible spa.
You're not going to go hungry. Within 5 blocks, you'll find Argentinian, Colombian, Peruvian, Cuban, Mexican, Ecuadorian, and Brazilian restaurants, plus a juice bar, sushi, and Chinese dishes.

North Beach is home to a large Argentinian community, supplemented by food. Locals unanimously know that Buenos Aires Bakery has some of the best empanadas and pastelitos in Miami, and that's a difficult contest to win. They're also offering lunch, coffee, and other treats. It's never taken long to get to the counter, and it's always worth a trip.

Miss the nearby On the Rocks bar and check out Lou's Beer Garden, a cocktail and craft brewing oasis. Hidden behind a boutique hotel, you'll be fascinated by the lights draped over the lawn, the firepits, and the outstanding music playlist. Order from the full menu, even though the pizzas are excellent.

Recently taken over by the Miami Rhythm Foundation, the North Beach Bandshell has been turned into a hipster center. Concerts and festivals take place nearly every night, such as the weekly Dance Band Nights and food truck gatherings, plus concerts by indie bands like Beirut.

If you're a film freak, don't skip an entertainment fix at O Cinema, which screens independent films and documentaries.
