Description
Enjoy a two-hour kayak tour from Pelican Harbor Marina, just off the 70th St Bridge in Miami. Explore the harbor, secluded islands and surrounding waterways, with the opportunities to observe wildlife and enjoy scenic views of Miami and Surfside. Before setting out on the tour, participants will receive a safety briefing and basic paddling instruction from the tour guide. The tour begins in Pelican Harbor Marina, located next to the Seabird Station. The specific itinerary and sights may vary depending on factors such as weather and wildlife activity. The first stop on the tour will be Pelican Island, a small island in the harbor that is home to a colony of brown pelicans. Here you will have the opportunity to observe the pelicans and learn about their behavior and habitat. The tour then normally proceeds along a portion of the Intracoastal Waterway, which runs parallel to the coast and is used for shipping, fishing, and recreation. The waterway is lined with mangroves and other vegetation, providing a scenic backdrop for the tour. Depending on the specific route, the tour may enter Oleta River State Park, which features a variety of natural habitats, including mangrove forests, saltwater marshes, and hardwood hammocks. Here you may see a variety of wildlife, including fish, crabs, and possibly even manatees or dolphins. After approximately two hours on the water, the tour returns to Pelican Harbor Marina, where you will disembark. You can then visit the neighboring Seabird Station to learn more about the rehabilitation and conservation work being done there, and perhaps even meet some of the resident birds.Includes
