A very nice stay at Hotel Croydon and I would gladly visit again. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our time there. We especially enjoyed the pool which made the stay relaxing and enjoyable. The location is great! Beautiful view and super close to the beach. It was also great to walk around and catch the free trolley to get around the City and even down to South Beach. The staff at the The Tavern were also welcoming and friendly, making a great first impression when we arrived. While we did experience an unforeseen circumstance during our visit, the team responded as quickly as possible, resolved the issue promptly and listened to our feedback. Overall, Hotel Croydon provided a pleasant stay and we would recommend it.
I appreciate Adriana for resolving a room issue that I had. While staff is nice, the hotel was lacking in many ways. 1. air conditioning - the first room I was in had a portable unit that did not adequately cool the room. 2. My first room had toilet paper in the toilet and hair in the shower. 3. Both rooms had a noisy refrigerator. 4. The second bed seemed to sink at the side. 5. The lobby/seating was not adequately cleaned, I sat down for coffee one morning and the side table had crumbs on it and the floor needed to be dusted. 6. The pool area should be cleaned up more frequently. 7. I felt like I was getting bit at night and what developed appears to be bed bug bites. I see in a another review that someone else recently had a bug experience as well. 8. There were other miscellaneous things that I observed needing a little TLC. 9. The spa never answers the phone, perhaps its a one person establishment that is accessible only through the booking app. 10. The workout area is not worth listing. This place has many things going for it such as friendly staff, great restaurant and awesome location but you need to invest in rigorous cleaning standards and a maintenance crew for repairs and replacements. I don't normally write reviews but the things that stood out were just glaring.
Stayed here the night before a cruise- blown away by how wonderful everything was. We got in very early and were able to check our bags safely at the hotel until the room was ready. We then were able to use towels and beach chairs as we walked a block to the beach. We were also able to use the beautiful pool. We got a call when the room was ready and were surprised to find out about the free happy hour which was a nice little perk! Adrianna at the front desk is so kind and friendly!!! One of our favorite parts was the complementary sunscreen pump and aloe by the pool as we had forgotten ours and made it all convenient!
I had mixed feelings about my stay. I arrived at the hotel around 6:00 AM after a flight from the airport, exhausted and in a very stressful situation. I had lost my wallet, but I still had access to all of my virtual cards and the card numbers for my physical cards through my banking apps. I explained everything to the gentleman at the front desk, and he was incredibly kind, understanding, and professional. He told me it would not be a problem and that he would try to arrange an early check-in within about 30 minutes so I could get some rest. I waited in the lobby for about an hour and then returned to the front desk. The gentleman had left, and a young woman was now working there. Unfortunately, my experience with her was the complete opposite. She was rude, dismissive, and spoke to me as if I were trying to scam the hotel, even though my reservation had already been fully paid. She looked at me with obvious contempt and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed. I explained that although I no longer had my physical wallet, I still had access to all of my virtual cards and the full card numbers of my physical cards. Instead of trying to help find a solution, she treated me as though I was attempting some kind of fraud. She told me I would have to wait for the manager to arrive around 9:00 AM. I waited until 10:40 AM, but the manager never showed up. Eventually, another employee arrived and introduced herself as the assistant manager. After waiting 4.5 hours, all she did was give me a phone number for the hotel’s finance department. When I called, I discovered they could simply send me a payment link online. This could have been communicated much earlier and would have saved me hours of unnecessary stress. In the end, I had to go to a branch of my bank and ask them to print a replacement debit card just so I could complete the check-in process for a room that had already been paid for. The front desk staff seemed poorly trained and unprepared to handle a simple situation with empathy, flexibility, and common sense. After I finally checked in, my stay was generally pleasant. The hotel is well located, about a 5-minute walk from the beach and only 2 minutes from a bus stop where the free trolley stops. However, I was disappointed to find insects crawling on the sheets of one of the beds in my room. Overall, the location was convenient and the stay itself was decent, but the check-in experience was exhausting, humiliating, and completely overshadowed by the lack of professionalism from part of the front desk team.
Our stay was aggressively average. The staff were all lovely and very helpful (I'd give them 5/5 stars), but the hotel building itself and amenities were just fine. - It happens, but having just a single working elevator our whole trip was an extra inconvenience. We'd read about it in reviews and thought it would have been fixed by the time of our visit. We were fine using the stairs, but if you can't, I'd call ahead to ask about the elevator. - The "special cocktail" at happy hour were generic drinks you can get at any bar (love a G&T, but it's not "special" by any means). - The room and bathroom were clean, but the bathroom layout was frustrating (can't turn on the shower without getting wet because of the location of the controls, lack of storage & counterspace because of a pedestal sink). - The rooms lacked some basic amenities like a hair dryer or even a box of tissues. But we did like that the mini fridge was big enough for us to store our own items in there. - We did appreciate the proximity to the beach, the availability of beach towels, and access to sunscreen & aloe by the pool. The rooftop deck offers a nice view and a place to relax. - There's lots of restaurant options nearby, and it's really easy to get on/off the free trolley with stops just outside the hotel if you want to explore other parts of Miami Beach. This hotel was fine for our purposes for a few days away, and I'd consider staying again for just a night or two, but if you're looking for somewhere to stay for longer, I'd look elsewhere.
