My review is solely based on my experience in the spa. While it was relaxing and all staff was friendly and welcoming, I felt like the massage did not live up to the price tag of $159 each. (We went during Spa Month so it was a discounted price but even then). For me & my husband, it was too soft/light pressure. I got the Swedish he got the Oriental. I also felt there was a lack of instruction when I stepped into the locker area I had no idea where to go, where to get a robe, etc. I had to ask one of the cleaning attendants. My husband said the male side did have a staff member who accompanied him all the way through and showed him where to go, etc. I didn’t experience that in the women’s side. I also was not communicated beforehand the ability of using the amenities, pool and beach. I was told once I got there. While the place appeared nice, and the massage was relaxing, for the price I would rather go to a chain massage place like Massage Envy and receive a way more effective massage.
The absolute gold standard for a wellness getaway! My stay at the Carillon was nothing short of transformative. If you are looking for a luxury vacation that genuinely restores your mind, body, and soul, this is the place. The accommodations are stunning, massive, apartment-style suites with kitchens, gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows, and incredibly comfortable Bryte Balance smart beds. But the real star of the show is the 70,000-square-foot spa and fitness facility. The Thermal Experience circuit (especially the crystal steam room and igloo shower) is out of this world, and they offer incredible therapies like cryotherapy and salt float tanks. To top it off, dining at The Strand right on the ocean’s edge was fantastic, with a menu featuring fresh, local ingredients and amazing health-conscious options. The service from the beach club staff to the spa team was impeccable and warm. I left feeling completely rejuvenated and cannot wait to return!
I’m not sure I would personally classify the Carillon as a true 5-star hotel. While the property has some positives, the overall experience did not feel particularly luxurious, and parts of the facility seemed dated. During our stay, one of the elevators was out of service, and the elevator we used had a flickering light bulb that was never replaced during the two nights we were there. The hallway leading to our room had no airflow and smelled musty, almost mold-like. The room itself was very spacious and well-equipped for an extended stay, with a full kitchen, refrigerator, and microwave. However, I was disappointed that complimentary bottled water was not provided. It was SO hot in Miami that day. We booked a partial ocean-view room, and the view from the living room was pleasant. Unfortunately, the large windows appeared not to have been cleaned on the outside for quite some time, which detracted from the experience. Additionally, our room overlooked another section of the Carillon that was under construction. Workers could easily see into our room, and the bedroom window looked directly down onto a dumpster. We kept that window closed for the duration of our stay. Other maintenance issues included a loose, super wobbly sink faucet in the bathroom. One convenience I appreciated was having a Publix directly across the street, which made it easy to pick up snacks and drinks. I also liked that complimentary lounge chairs and umbrellas were included at the beach. The spa experience was disappointing. Getting there felt odd—you exit on the fourth floor and walk down a dark hallway before reaching the spa entrance. The reception desk is tucked away in the back, and guests must pass displays of costume jewelry and a hair salon, which felt somewhat tacky and took away from the spa atmosphere. I did not feel my massage was worth the price, which exceeded $300. I’ve had significantly better spa treatments at other 5-star hotels. My husband opted for one of the touchless therapies, but we were surprised to find that a 22% service charge was added even though the service primarily involved escorting him to the machine and explaining briefly how it worked. As a result, a 25-minute treatment advertised at $99 ended up costing approximately $120. Not cool.
Myself and my wife recently spent a week here and it was decent. The rooms themselves are very nice modern and clean no complaints whatsoever. The interior of the building is nice and the service was good. The main floor outdoor pool was nice with food and beverage service. The beach was small and was loaded with seaweed. The exterior of the building is very dated and not in the best shape. The neighborhood has older buildings and is not the most modern. Overall not a bad resort.
